  • UUCB has been a lifesaver for me. I was in need of safe, mindful, purpose-oriented human connection and have fallen in love with the people at this church over the course of the last year. Lots of opportunities to get involved with social and environmental justice, immigration and racial justice reform and allyship, and it's an inclusive and safe space for all members of the LGBTQIA community. I marched in the Denver Pride parade with these guys and helped man the booth at Boulder Pride.

Last spring, I attended great workshops on gender education and how to talk about gender with children and families. As a trans man, this church's support, love and acceptance has been critical for realizing how I can be fully in the world while loving my whole self.

Lots of families and kids of all ages. Really cool education stuff for youth (and adults) that allows them to explore and craft their own beliefs without dogma or guilt. An incredible place to dive deeper into yourself and the interconnected web of life.

  • I am eternally grateful for the community at UUCB. Not only are they a spiritual home for myself and many of their members. They are also a pillar of what it means to stay in the work for a more just and inclusive tomorrow. This is visible not only through the worship services and practices of the church, but through their partnerships with community organizations to share space and other resources.

UUCB is truly not just a space for Unitarian Universalists but for all those in Boulder seeking a loving and welcoming community.

  • About two years ago, my wife and I were looking for a good non-denominational church to provide moral grounding for our children, and found a home at UUCB. The Rev. Kelly Dignan became a settled minister just over a year ago, and through her leadership, the membership has grown enough that the church has started offering two services. We also find the Religious Education to be fulfilling for our children, through the leadership of Janen Wright (Director of Faith Formation). Lastly, I recommend UUCB as a place to build compassion for others and to enact justice in the world.

  • For a long time I thought there wasn't a religion for me. I believe deeply in love, justice, democracy, equality, compassion, and spiritual growth, but don't care for the dogma of most religions where we are discouraged from thinking for ourselves. Then I found Unitarian Universalism.

I moved to Boulder about 12 years ago and started attending this church. The church seemed stagnant back then, but over the past several years has evolved into an amazing, powerful, supportive, growing, vibrant, loving church. I continue to be astonished at how willing the congregation is to challenge themselves to be more inclusive, compassionate, open-minded, respectful, and working for justice. Especially in these divisive and fearful times, this church provides a safe place for me to find hope and supportive community.

I was urged to visit by three members and others. They were lesbians who boasted proudly about how this church was working to address and dissolve their prejudices and actively acknowledge the privilege they live and benefit from. Bragged about how 'Black Lives Matter" banner was only church with one in BO and how it had been vandalized and replaced. Alas, when a lady who had sexually assaulted me repeatedly stalked me at the Sanitas pool at the YMCABV for the 2nd time, I told her 'this time in front of witnesses' to stay away from me. The woman who is white and a lesbian replied, "..but, that was a long time ago," She said this in front of Laurie Hyland and two other members and others in the pool and YMCABV employees, Trisha, the lifeguard said she had heard the entire conversation. I was told to 'shut up' by people who had before been my friends. Laurie Hyland said, "I know she (sexually assaulted) you. But, move on. Just move on." Pls clarify, does your church condone sexual assault. All of your member who go to the Sanitas Pool complained to the YMCABV when I tried to warn them about this predator. I hope this predator being white and a lesbian had nothing to do with your churches ability to overlook sexual assault. I have been threatened by this lesbian, Emily, at BO Rec Ctr. I had told her multiples times I was not a lesbian. Jean didnt start speaking to me until I realized her wife, Betty, thought I was into her and I told Betty I was heterosexual. After then, their attitudes changed toward me. Why doesnt the lesbian community respect who I love, since it is expected that i respect who they love. And what does your church teach survivors of sexual assault since it is evident the teaching is that victims should "just move on."
Please enlighten me bc as of right now, I am pondering the question of whether I should report your church to child protective services.
